Paris Plans
In less than two weeks, I’ll be heading to Paris for 7 days – in part to discharge some teaching duties and larger part to loaf around the city, check out some favourite sites, and have some fantastic, gamine adventures. Top of the list this time around is a trip to the Musée Edith Piaf, not far from the Père Lachaise cemetery, and close by one of my favourite Paris watering holes – the Café Charbon in Rue Oberkampf. Also on the Paris list are thrift shopping in the Marais and possible a night out on the Dame de Canton. As P and I will be there for Valentine’s Day, we’re planning a special dinner out, and though we can’t decide on the restaurant (my vote is for here mostly because I’m a ridiculous Diane Keaton fan), I have nailed down the dress, which somehow, given it’s Paris, seems so much more important.
Via a friend’s suggestion, I found Daniela Besso’s Etsy shop and this beautiful jersey dress very much on sale (I know I sound like an 85 year old pensioner, but give me a break – I LOVE sales). Daniela designs and makes all her own garments and is a delight to do business with. My dress arrived in no time at all, and tucked inside the package was a handwritten note, addressed to me personally, wishing me all the best while wearing the dress. I’m giving it a Paris test run next Friday when P and I head out for a ridiculously swanky dinner at The Fountain Restaurant in Fortnum and Mason; we’ll see if I can live up to Daniela’s note!
Other items that have made it onto my Paris packing list so far? I put together my very first Polyvore set to help me narrow it down a little. I’m sure there will be more to come in the next week or so!
